The
challenge was put forth to the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen; the good men
of District 15A. Each of the 10 lodges in the district was tasked with the
responsibility of donating at least 10 frozen turkeys and 10 hams to help create
Thanksgiving Day meal boxes for needy families, most of them being elderly, and
some were members of the Texas Prince Hall Masonic Family. Turkey and ham
donations POURED IN at the donation site, the grounds of Highland Heights Lodge
No. 200 (Byron Haynes, WM). The Masters of each lodge were asked to provide the
names of several families that we could directly impact without them having to
experience the hassle of waiting in some long line to receive assistance.

But wait…what good is turkey and ham without the trimmings? Well, HUGE THANKS are to be rendered to the Awesome Ladies of District 15A and 15B, Norris Wright Cuney Grand Chapter, for their effort in not only donating canned goods, dressing, and other items, but also for their assistance in the assembly of the meal boxes.

The chapters were asked to donate 100 canned goods each. They also assisted with the deliveries of the meal boxes. Special thanks go out to DDGM Rhonda Davis for coordinating the efforts of the ladies. They came…they saw…and they conquered. PM Leroy Simmons (200) was responsible for the coordination of the entire operation. In the past, Highland Heights Lodge No. 200 took on this task alone and served over 300 families. Thanks to them, they have allowed the Prince Hall Family of Houston to share in the blessings of this project, and now it is an annual District event. At this year’s project, we were able to serve close to 200 families! The blessings of God fell on all who gave that day, and our only prayer was for those blessings to pass through us and onto the families we helped.
